Gluten Free Service
The Gluten Free Food Service allows patients to self-manage their gluten free prescriptions with the assistance of their community pharmacy. Patients eligible for the service will be identified by their GP and referred to their pharmacy for care.

The Gluten-Free Food Service is an optional programme designed for people who need to follow a gluten-free diet as part of their medical care. The service is available through community pharmacies across Scotland.
All approved gluten-free foods are supplied free of charge on prescription.
Who can use this service
You may be eligible to use this service if you:
- have a confirmed diagnosis of coeliac disease or dermatitis herpetiformis
- live in Scotland
- are registered with a GP practice

As orders are placed through your community pharmacy, you do not need to visit your GP every time you require a gluten-free food prescription.
