Private Blood Pressure Check

High blood pressure is the single biggest risk factor for cardiovascular disease (heart attack and stroke). It's thought there are 5.5 million people in the UK who have high blood pressure but don't know they have it.
The right treatment to control your blood pressure can greatly reduce your risk of stroke and heart attack.

How does it all work?

Book your Appointment

Schedule a convenient time with our pharmacy team for your consultation. A trained pharmacist will measure your blood pressure and check your pulse during your consultation.

Advice and Guidance

We will explain your results and provide advice on healthy lifestyle changes that can help manage your blood pressure.

Further Assessment

If your blood pressure is raised, the pharmacist may recommend a more detailed assessment using a 24-hour blood pressure monitor. We will lend you the monitor and show you how to use it.

GP Referral if Needed

If your blood pressure is very high, the pharmacist will advise you to contact your GP for further assessment and care.

About high blood pressure

High blood pressure happens when the force on the walls of blood vessels (caused by the blood within them) is more than normal. This means the heart has to work harder and the blood vessels are under more strain, making it a major risk factor for stroke and heart attack.
The risk of high blood pressure rises with age. But it's also more common if you have diabetes or a family history of high blood pressure. Eating a lot of salt, not exercising regularly, being overweight, drinking a lot of alcohol and stress also increase your risk.
One of the problems with detecting high blood pressure is that it virtually never causes symptoms in the short term. That's why it's important to get your blood pressure checked regularly. Knowing you have high blood pressure can allow you to make lifestyle changes, and if necessary take medication, to reduce your risk. How much will it cost? For private blood pressure check service we charge £5 a check.
